Víctor Sánchez is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz with degrees in Sociology and Latin American and Latino Studies. Deeply committed to the student movement, Víctor has served as the Vice Chair of External Affairs for the Student Union Assembly (SUA)–the official voice of the undergraduate body at UC Santa Cruz–organizing around issues of access, affordability, diversity, and quality for higher education. Víctor has served on the board of directors for both the United States Student Association (USSA 2008-2009) and the University of California Student Association (UCSA 2008-2010), serving as the President of the UCSA this past year (2009-2010). Together with the thousands of students in California, he has learned the true lessons to learn in direct action organizing, gaining valuable insight into what a successful grassroots campaign looks like, firmly believing that education is a RIGHT and not a privilege. For him, we cannot afford to be shy, and together we can put together real action to create real change.
